Harrisburg, PA – Throughout the month of May, member organizations of the PA Military Finance Alliance will be offering free, noncommercial financial capability webinars focusing on the unique financial challenges facing members of the military, veterans, and their families in recognition of Military Appreciation Month.

Mark Schindler, Pennsylvania’s acting adjutant general and acting head of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. “May is Military Appreciation Month and we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with members of the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance to provide these free and informative seminars.”

“Scammers often target members of the military due to their steady paycheck, often claiming a shared military background to gain trust. Because of frequent moves, sometimes on short notice, and being called away from home for months at a time, it also can be more difficult for service members to keep track of their finances,” Secretary of Banking and Securities Richard Vague said.

“Making $ense of Finance” is made possible through the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance, a cooperative effort of the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the PA Department of Banking and Securities, the PA Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, Pennsylvania Military OneSource, Better Business Bureau of Western PA, Better Business Bureau of Eastern PA, Liberty USO, Army Community Service, PA National Guard, and Clarifi. The Alliance is the only collaboration of its kind in Pennsylvania devoted to helping members of the military make smart financial decisions. AARP Pennsylvania will also be a contributing participant in this program.
