Resurfacing Project Begins on Route 897 in Lancaster County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a resurfacing project on Route 897 (Weaverland Valley Road) in Lancaster County has begun. The project limits extend from Route 23 in East Earl Township to East Main Street in Terre Hill Borough.

Weather permitting, the contractor will begin pipe work next week. There will be short-term lane restrictions under daylight flagging. No restrictions will be in place from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM.

Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This project consists of resurfacing, base repair, guiderail replacement, drainage replacement, signs and pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction.

A detour will be needed for paving operations at a business at the northern end of the project limits. A press release will be issued prior to the implementation of the detour.

Allan Myers, LP, of Worchester, PA, is the contractor on this $1,491,777 project.

All work is expected to be completed by October 2, 2026.
