PHRC STATEMENT ON THE RECENT ACTIVITY SURROUNDING THIS TRAGIC EVENT
HARRISBURG, PA : “This weekend American society faced a continued breakdown of civility, unfortunately we expect it will continue if not for immediate attention to what is causing it.”-Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW who is the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) said.
The PHRC will continue to monitor events around the Commonwealth and the Country while forcing discussions on these difficult topics. Like so many others George Floyd’s death was a result of bias that has been an intimate part of our society. We at PHRC see this discrimination everyday and we have made great efforts to open the conversation and provide solutions working with community members who have been on the receiving end of these deplorable actions. We have heard from many of our neighbors. We must identify the trauma and admit our biases.
“We pray for the healing of our nation, we listen to the words of our leaders, we cry for peace but we continue to open our doors to hear from those affected, like we have over the recent years in order to find solutions and we continue to stand with the oppressed in peaceful outcry against aggression.”-Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW.
We are asking for a moment of calm across our commonwealth and our nation, to find solutions together.
