FLEEING AND ELUDING IN VEHICLE IN PARDISE TOWNSHIP, LANCASTER COUNTY, PA

On June 21, 2024 at 12:51 A.M., PSP Lancaster Patrol Troopers in full uniform on routine patrol, while operating a marked patrol unit. At this time, they were traveling east on Lincoln Highway East, East Lampeter Township. Troopers observed a black Chevrolet Camaro traveling in front of their position bearing PA registration LTV 1866. A query of this registration was showing it returning to a different vehicle, a dead tag on an unknown make or model Lexus out of Philadelphia, PA. In the area of Lincoln Highway East and Black Horse Road, Paradise Township, Lancaster County, PA Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on this vehicle. This vehicle immediately passed a tractor trailer in the center turn lane and accelerated at a high rate of speed east on Lincoln Highway while turning off their headlights/taillights. A vehicle pursuit with multiple marked PA State Police vehicles was initiated. This pursuit continued east on Lincoln Highway with speeds exceeding 125 M.P.H. . The fleeing vehicle passed multiple vehicles within the center turn lane and failed to stop for a steady red signal on Lincoln Highway East at Newport Road in Gap. The vehicle then exited U.S. 30 via PA-41 ramp to PA-41 South, then entered PA-41 South from Lincoln Highway at speeds of over 130 M.P.H. .

This fleeing vehicle crossed into Chester County and appeared to run out of gasoline on PA-41 south, just before Friendship Church Road. Troopers observed a black male exit the driver sear, and a lack female exit the from passenger seat and flee on foot. The male fled on foot across PA-41 into a field off of the right side of the north lane of travel and Troopers gave chase on foot. The female fled into a wooded area off the left side of the roadway. During the foot chase, the make fell into a grassy area and tucked both of this hands in front of his body. The male was given commands to place his hands behind his back in which he did not comply. Troopers had to forcefully place his arm/hands behind his back to gain compliance. During the course of this, a Trooper running to assist, fell into a large concrete culvert which caused moderate injuries to his left arm. The male driver was placed into custody and was identified by his Delaware driver’s license as Azuan Brady. Troopers observed his eyes to be bloodshot/glossy, his pupils dilated, and his mouth to be dry, suspecting he was under the influence of drugs.

 

A query of the fleeing vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) indicated it was listed in NCIC as stolen out of Philadelphia, PA on April 18, 2024. A passing motorist advised Pennsylvania State Police members they had observed a female in all black walking in the north lane of travel on PA-41. PSP responded to the area and located a female dressed in all black wearing one brown sandal which was identical to the one found on the floorboard of this vehicle. She was identified as Amber Thompson and was placed into custody. Thompson subsequently admitting to fleeing on foot from the vehicle.

 

Both parties were transported from the scene to PSP Lancaster. A search of the stolen vehicle yielded a stolen license plate out of Connecticut, a black ski mask and tools which were associated with breaking into vehicles. Brady faces two counts of Fleeing Or Attempting To Elude Police (F3), two counts of Receiving Stolen Property (F3), Driving Under The Influence Of Drugs (M), Reckless Endangering Another Person (M2), Evading Arrest On Foot (M2), Resisting Arrest (M2), and 10 other summary traffic violations. Thompson faces one count of Evading Arrest On Foot (M2). Both parties were transported to Lancaster County Prison for arraignment. The stolen vehicle was recovered in good condition and the owner of the stolen vehicle was contacted to make arraignments with their insurance company to recover the vehicle. PSP Lancaster is actively investigating.
