Pennsylvania State Police at Lancaster is investigating an attempted burglary and criminal mischief of an ATM that occurred at the Truist Bank branch in Gap, Pennsylvania. On May 18, 2023 at approximately 3:AM a white Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty crew cab pulled directly in front of the ATM. The actors proceeded to attach tow hooks and chains from the truck to the ATM in order to yank the cash storage receptacle from the ATM. The actors made two failed attempts to yank the cash receptacle from the ATM before abandoning the operation. The actors quickly returned to the pickup truck and fled the scene, driving southbound on PA Route 41, possibly toward Chester County. The hitch receiver which may help in identifying the specific vehicle, possibly a commercial rental or construction pickup. It is believed this crew is experienced and may attempt similar crimes in the future. This crime occurred under a well lit area with multiple cameras along a heavily trafficked roadway with a busy gas station directly across the street.
