The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
    Southeastern Cecil County in northeastern Maryland…

  • Until 145 AM EDT.

  • At 1244 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Aberdeen
    Proving Ground, moving northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

  • Locations impacted include…
    Elkton, Cecilton, Warwick, Brantwood, Cayots, Hollywood Beach,
    Bohemias Mills, and Chesapeake City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

  New Castle County in northern Delaware...
  Northwestern Kent County in central Delaware...
  Northeastern Queen Anne`s County in northeastern Maryland...
  Northeastern Kent County in northeastern Maryland...

* Until 115 AM EDT.

* At 1249 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from near Hollywood Beach to Cecilton to near Millington,
  moving northeast at 45 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
           possible.

* Locations impacted include...
  Newark, Middletown, Smyrna, Clayton, Delaware City, Millington,
  Sudlersville, Glasgow, Bear, Port Penn, Delaney Corner, Pike Creek,
  Crumpton, Saint Georges, Sassafras, Mount Pleasant, Green Spring,
  Massey, North Star and Hockessin.

This includes Interstate 95 in Delaware between mile markers 1 and 8.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

building.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service
office in Mount Holly NJ.

Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread
significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately
likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of
a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant
property damage.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware...New Jersey...and
  Pennsylvania...including the following areas...in northern
  Delaware...New Castle. In New Jersey...Camden, Coastal Ocean,
  Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex,
  Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Salem, Somerset,
  Southeastern Burlington, Sussex, Warren, and Western Monmouth. In
  Pennsylvania...Berks, Carbon, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern
  Montgomery, Lehigh, Lower Bucks, Monroe, Northampton,
  Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western Montgomery.

* WHEN...Through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain are
    expected to cross the region through Wednesday afternoon.
    Rainfall rates may exceed 1-2 inches per hours, which may
    result in flash flooding.

  South central Queen Anne`s County in northeastern Maryland...

* Until 100 AM EDT.

* At 1224 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
  tornado was located over Copperville, or 7 miles northwest of
  Easton, moving northeast at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree
           damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
  Easton, Matthews, Skipton, Wye Mills, Copperville and Cordova.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest

At 1212 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Pleasant Hills, or 9 miles west of Aberdeen, moving
northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying
         debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter.
         Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile
         homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near...
  Bel Air South, Riverside, Pleasant Hills, and Perryman around 1215
  AM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Harford Furnace, Abingdon, Joppa, Belcamp, Bradshaw, Joppatowne, and
Edgewood.

  northeast at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

  IMPACT...For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown,

KERN RD. THE NWS STATE COLLEGE OFFICE CONDUCTED THIS SURVEY IN
CONJUNCTION WITH YORK COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, CUMBERLAND
COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, AND SEARCH & RESCUE 93.
