Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that its contractor will resume night work on Sunday, April 8, weather permitting, on a project to repair and resurface a 3.5-mile section of Lincoln Highway East that follows Route 462 under the U.S. 30 East overpass to Oakview Road and continues on U.S. 30 to just east of Route 896, Hartman Bridge Road, in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County. Repairs to a section of Oakview Road (State Route 2043) from the intersection with U.S. 30 to the intersection with Route 340, Old Philadelphia Pike, are also included under this contract.

The $3,730,786 contract was awarded to New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Inc., of New Enterprise, Bedford County, and includes curb cut work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, minor drainage work, roadway base repair, removal of the top layer of asphalt and resurfacing with a three-inch Superpave asphalt overlay, traffic signal adjustments, and new signs and pavement markings.

Roadway repairs began in August 2017 and concentrated on the Route 462 and Oakview Road portions of the project. Repair and resurfacing operations this season will address the U.S. 30 portion of Lincoln Highway East. Work under this construction contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2018.

PennDOT advises travelers that the contractor has agreed not to restrict travel lanes on U.S. 30 between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, therefore all the roadwork will take place at night. Motorists may encounter shifting traffic patterns and a single lane of travel in each direction as crews conduct nighttime drainage and base repair operations in preparation for milling and paving this summer.

Sections of U.S. 30 average more than 31,500 vehicles traveled daily. To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones, not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.
