Editorial Note: This meeting became very heated and divisively political by many members of the school board. I urge every Octorara Parent to watch this ENTIRE video, all the way to the end. I know it’s long and feel in whole it is necessitous and compelling for all parents of students enrolled at Octorara (or any school) to watch. Furthermore, I applaud Dr. Michelle Orner on her strength, patience and articulate consideration for the welfare of the entire student body and staff at all of the Octorara Area Schools. Personally speaking, she made me extraordinarily proud to be a Octorara Brave with the way she is leading her team and the district. Octorara has NEVER seen circumstances like this in their entire history. As a community leader myself, I feel that we need to stand up and showcase what great leadership looks like under unprecedented and perpetually building tension. Our borough councils and township supervisors could learn a lot from watching this, and I implore them to do so. I understand that’s my opinion and I affirm it with generous conviction, for full clarity.

Octorara Area School District Education Committee held a meeting on August 13, 2020 to discuss the district’s plan to reopen the school to students on September 8, 2020. The OASD School Board will vote whether to reopen to in-person classes or to go all virtual on Monday, August 17, 2020. We’ll carry Monday’s live board meeting on WNUZ.org and on our social media extensions.
