Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a left lane restriction will be in place Wednesday, March 6, on eastbound Route 30 at the Centerville Road overpass in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, so a median attenuator can be repaired. This work will be performed from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM.
This work was previously planned for tomorrow but will be performed Wednesday due to the forecast for rain.
Motorists should be alert, drive with caution and watch for slow-moving traffic.
This work is part of the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project, which consists of structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction.
The project includes work on Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. The project is primarily located in East Hempfield Township, though the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue is in Manor Township.
JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project. Work is expected to be completed by July 22, 2025.

On November 16, 2023 at 12:19 P.M. a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo operated by Juliann O’ Malley, 52 of Ronks, PA was traveling east on Lincoln Highway when the operator lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle drove partially off the roadway and on to a grassy shoulder. Upon re-entering the highway, the vehicle traveled into the oncoming traffic lane (westbound) and collided head-on with a 2019 Volvo Tractor, towing a Semi trailer. As a result of the collision, O’ Malley became entrapped in the vehicle. The driver’s side airbag deployed during the impact; however, O’Malley was not wearing a seatbelt.

Members from the Gordonville Ambulance and Kinzer and Paradise fire companies extracted O’Malley from the vehicle using mechanical lifesaving equipment. She was subsequently transported by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
